Corps sain et conduite vertueuse : les savoirs botaniques confrontés aux pratiques médicales dans l’herbier de Leonhart Fuchs au début du XVIe siècle

Abstract : Abstract: Healthy body and virtuous mores in the Leonhart Fuchs’ herbarium at the beginning of the 16th century Leonhart Fuchs' De historia stirpium is best known for its innovative contribution to the history of botany. Our work highlights Fuchs’ medical practice, whose approach is aimed at restoring a healthy and virtuous body thanks to the properties and virtues of plants. Ancient beliefs and medieval practices remain within the herbarium forming a sort of memory aid for the physician who prescribes a certain behavior, a series of virtuous actions according to the mores of the 16th century.
