Impact of an additional task on gait parameters in older adults with dementia

Introduction: This study contributes to assess the impact of an additional task on the gait parameters in elderly people with dementia. Summary of facts: Each patient completed a locomotor test in situation of single and dual-task. The gait quality was assessed using the Locometrix to collect the following parameters: speed, stride length, cadence, regularity, power. Conclusion: The gait quality of patients is significantly impaired in dual-task situation. Consideration must be conducted to provide a specific program activity for these patients to maintain their autonomy.
