Leonardo Bruni Aretino (ca 1370-1444) was an important figure of the first Florentine humanism. The book tries to give a general survey of his multifaceted works, with a presentation of his intellectual and political role and a french translation of several texts which proved to be significant: the Laudatio Florentine Urbis, the Dialogi ad P. P. Histrum, the Cicero Novus, the De studiis et litteris liber, the De interpretatione recta, the Isagogogicon moralis Discipline, the Vita Aristotelis and the Vite di Dante e del Petrarca.
