Structure and properties of zirconia-alumina plasma sprayed coatings.

Résumé

Dry mixed powders of zirconia partially stabilized with yttria (7-8 wt%) and alumina were plasma sprayed using argon-hydrogen atmospheric plasma jet . The microstructure of plasma sprayed zirconia-alumina composite coatings was analysed by different methods. X-Ray analysis and scanning electron microscopy provided the phase composition of the coatings. Microstructure study was complemented by transmission electron microscopy. Mechanical and thermal properties were investigated and correlated to the addition of alumina in usual YPSZ.
