Chemical Functionalization of Calcium Phosphate Bioceramic Surfaces

Résumé

Porous calcium phosphate based bioceramics (CPC) are commonly used as bone substitutes, they have indeed a chemical composition close to the bone mineral and they are osteoconductive. But the natural regeneration of bone is limited in vivo to the peripheral region of the implants. To develop osteoinductive bone substitutes, it is necessary to induce the recruitment, adhesion and proliferation of bone and endothelial cells. This article presents the molecules of interest, the different functionalization routes of the CPC, with a focus on covalent immobilization, and the examples of the improvement of their biological behavior.
